A Note from the Author, Michael Kirkpatrick
I first wrote Gracie as a screenplay. It was my dream to watch my work on television as a weekly drama series. I sent the play to a group of Hollywood screenwriters who reached out with interest in Gracie. After two long hours in a video conference meeting, we decided that we had different directions for her (Gracie). I believed that the backstory of how she became the fierce warrior that she is was important for the audience to learn. The screenwriters wanted to skip that part, but they said that if it was that important to me, then maybe I should write a book instead.
I still hope to one day see Gracie on my television, but until that time, I can only entertain you with her story. I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it.
